Topics include trade policies for development, foreign investment and multinational corporations, North-South relations, and less developed country perspectives on stabilization policies and the international monetary system. Several of the essays analyze the international events leading to the so-called "debt-crisis", and the macroeconomics policies of debtor countries during that period. The focus is on the interaction between changing world markets and LDC stabilization and liberalization experiments. Throughout the papers, Diaz-Alejandro argues a clear case for a democratic, pluralist, mixed economy approach to development.
